This is a detailed original soft pastel still life, measuring 16 x 20 inches on a dramatic black Canson art board. The piece presents a lavish display of green grapes overflowing an antique-style cut-crystal goblet, set against a luxurious drape of deep burgundy velvet. The piece uses the contrast of the dark background to achieve a striking luminous quality, making the vibrant greens glow. Technically, the painting is designed to be realistic, yet embellishing the natural color of the grapes. It captures both the soft, powdery texture of the fruit and the complex refraction and sparkle of light passing through the ornate glass.
